When I received these glasses, I was happy to see they came with three different sets of interchangeable lenses, a hard case with pockets for the additional lenses and a soft sleeve. The lenses that were included were smoke, HC red and clear, allowing these glasses to be used in any environment. When looking through the glasses I found the lenses to be very clear. The lenses are also ANSI Z87.1 safety certified. The one negative I have about the lenses is that the company logo is on each individual lens and when looking at something light in color, my peripheral vision sometimes picks up the logo so it can be a little distracting.

When looking at the frames, there is quite a bit of flex to them and they are lightweight. Because of the flex, these glasses stay put while wearing them and luckily, the pressure is not too much where it is uncomfortable wearing the glasses for long periods of time. The nose piece is also adjustable, adding to the comfort of these glasses. I wore them daily and they are as comfortable as any glasses I have worn.

The one durability issue I found when looking at these glasses happened when swapping lenses. The process of changing the lenses is similar to changing lenses in Oakley Half Jackets, but the nose piece on these glasses is a separate piece held on by only a small screw. In order to change the lenses here, some pressure has to be put on the nose piece and if care is not taken, the nose piece can break off.

These glasses are an economical option compared to some other brands and come with a lot of the same features. Because of the comfort and clarity of the glasses, I will continue to use them on a routine basis but I will not be changing lenses if I can avoid it out of fear of breaking the nose piece.

I received a pair of Tifosi brand Lore tactical glasses for testing and evaluation. I was unfamiliar with the brand but found that they are already established in the sports industry. The glasses came in a semi rigid, woven nylon case with a cleaning cloth/soft case, three sets of lenses (smoke, high contrast red and clear) and instructions.

One negative with the case is that it has slots for the lenses, however, the slots are not wide enough to easily insert the lens. Changing the lenses in the frame is easily done without tools. The smoke lenses were dark enough without being too dark. The high contrast red lenses are described as being for cloudy conditions. I saw no distortion through any part of the lenses.

The frame and lenses meet or exceed established safety standards for impact, clarity and coverage. I wore the glasses on patrol shifts, with a ballistic helmet and around the house and found them to be comfortable with no pressure spots from the non-slip rubber coated ear piece or the adjustable nose piece.

The lightweight yet sturdy nylon frame is matte black with no glaring logos. Fit and finish was on a par with other well-known brands. The MSRP is $49.95 for the single lens and $69.95 for the interchangeable option. Tifosi offers a lifetime warranty.

Other than the issue with the lens slot in the case, I found the Tifosi Lore to be a good value and would consider the brand for future purchases.

This tactical eyewear was utilized both on an indoor range and outdoor range in an effort to measure glare from both direct sunlight and well as interior overhead lights. In both cases there was minimal to no glare on the glasses that would have affected the shooting. The various lenses were convenient and there was no drop off or change of visual ability with the changing of the lenses.

The eyewear was utilized in numerous movement drills in which the operator was subjected to multiple movements and run through an obstacle course while wearing the glasses. The glasses seemed to fit snugly on the head and face and never fell off the operator even while submerged in water (they did come off once he dove into the water, but while slowly submerging the body and head under the water they stayed on).

The eyewear was extremely durable and the lenses were extremely difficult to scratch. The eyewear was dropped from heights, dragged and thrown on/across concrete and blacktop surfaces and each time had limited to no damage on both the frame and the lenses. The lenses were finally scratched and showed signs of wear once we physically and purposely took an object and dragged it across the lenses.

The eyewear carrying case was durable as well and able to be secured on both the tactical duty uniform and the cover six vest. The case went through a similar durability test as the glasses and was finally compromised once we physically and purposely damaged it. Prior to the damage, the ease of transition was good (by having the case/glasses on the vest) while at the range and for quick placement while preparing and traveling to an assignment.

This eyewear is both functional and practical for operators either on an assignment or for range exercises. The eyewear provides the protection necessary, within reason, from any type of debris that could possibly arise while either at the range or during and operation.

I have to admit, I had never heard of Tifosi Eyewear prior to receiving a pair of the Bronx Tactical sunglasses. Before I opened the package, I decided to do some company research. I didn’t want to form an opinion just based on the fact that I had never heard of them.

I found out that Tifosi is a very respected visual optics company that has been making eyewear for outdoor sports including running, biking, water sports and golf. Tifosi is now an emerging competitor in the tactical/shooting market.

I received a pair of the Bronx Tactical Eyewear. They were packaged in a semi-rigid, woven nylon case. Inside the case were the glasses, cleaning cloth/bag and warranty information. I like the fact that they included both the cloth and the semi-rigid case for storage. I personally like the ability to attach the harder case to my kit without worry of my breaking the glasses. The frames are made of a matte black polymer and the lenses are smoke-colored. Both the lenses and the frames are safety rated to ANSI Z87.1 Safety Standards. The lenses are made of polycarbonate and are scratch and shatterproof.

I thought the glasses had a very nice fit due to the hydrophilic rubber ear and nose pieces. These features also prevented the glasses from slipping off my face during running and range drills. The optical quality of the lenses were above average clarity and did not distort even at peripheral angles. This was nice during live fire range and daily driving.

Overall, I was impressed with the Tifosi Bronx Tactical Eyewear. My biggest surprise was the retail price and lifetime warranty. At around $49, they’re a steal and will compete very well against maybe more well-known and more expensive tactical eyewear.

I evaluated a pair of Bronx sunglasses from Tifosi. I am very picky about my eye wear; however these specs were a problem solver. My dilemma is that most sunglasses are too heavy, hurt behind my ears after long periods of use, don’t hold up to the rigors of law enforcement work and are usually expensive.

These Bronx are not the sunglasses normally marketed for cops. They are better. The Bronx came with a hard zippered case and a baby soft bag case that doubles as a cleaning cloth. The case nicely protects the Bronx when not in use and the cleaning cloth works fine. The first thing I noticed was that the glasses are incredibly lightweight. By far the lightest pair of sunglasses I have worn. This potentially was bittersweet. Lightweight is awesome but triggers thoughts of cheap and flimsy. That’s not the case here! These glasses are rated Z87.1, which is an OSHA standard for eye wear. This criterion focuses on hazards associated with eye protection. I can wear these sunglasses all day without any discomfort behind my ears or strain to my eyes. You pretty much forget they are there.

They have 100% UV protection and they block out the sun perfectly. My vision was clear with no distortion. I wouldn’t recommend looking directly at the sun… that hurt. These Bronx sunglasses have a good style too. They look professional in uniform and cool in blue jeans. I tested them on the firing range as my eye protection with no problem as well.

I placed them on the light bar of my duty vehicle and drove off; they rolled off the back and hit the pavement. I did this ten times and there no scratches. I skipped them down an asphalt road like a boy would skip a rock on the water. No scratches to the lens but the frame did show minor road rash. The fit is excellent; you can wear them all day in complete comfort. They stayed on my face throughout my shift. I also wore them during an outside PT session. They never came off and I was not wearing a strap.

I mowed the yard and ran my weed eater while wearing these glasses. They got covered with pieces of grass but cleaned nicely. These sunglasses are great for any activity where you need sunglasses. I highly recommend them and at a MSRP of $50; it’s almost “buy one get one free” when compared to similar brands!
